Fried Caprese Salad Recipe

fried caprese salad

Oh yes, this is another fried recipe and another caprese salad recipe combined into one, fried caprese salad. I wanted something fried and greasy but I also wanted to feel like I was attempting to be healthy. :/ So I made caprese salad and fried it. It was pretty good and satisfied my cravings but it’s not something I would make very often, just when I’m feeling the need for healthy and fattening at the same time. Does that make sense to anyone but me?

Ingredients:

  • tomato slices
  • mozzarella slices
  • fresh basil leaves
  • balsamic dressing
  • olive oil
  • bread crumbs
  • egg wash (1 egg 1/2  milk, whisked together)

Directions:

  1. In a small skillet, heat up about a tablespoon of olive oil on medium heat.
  2.  Stack the basil then mozzarella on top of a tomato slice.
  3.  Carefully pick the stack up and dunk in the egg wash.
  4. Coat in breadcrumbs.
  5.  Place in heated skillet, fry until bottom side is a golden to dark brown and flip to other side and fry.
  6. Place on plate and drizzle with balsamic dressing.
  7. Enjoy!

caprese salad grilled cheese

I LOVE grilled cheese! I decided to try a caprese salad grilled cheese because it sounded delicious. It’s pretty much the caprese salad on grilled bread but I did add a slice of Muenster cheese to it as well.

What I used:

  • 2 slices of bread
  • Butter
  • 1 slice of Muenster
  • Fresh Mozzarella Ball cut into slices
  • Tomato slices
  • Fresh Basil leaves
  • Balsamic Dressing I use Cindy’s Kitchen Balsamic Vinaigrette, I buy it at Whole Foods but it should be able to find it elsewhere

What I did:

1. Fried the tomato slices a little bit in a skillet over medium heat because sometimes when I add tomatoes to my grilled cheese they get a little mushy and I’m not a fan of that.

2. Butter one side of each piece of bread

3. On the hot pan place one piece of bread butter side down

4.On the bread, place the Muenster, tomato slices, basil leaves and drizzle with a small amount of balsamic dressing, top with mozzarella and the other piece of bread butter side up

5. Grill each side until a dark golden brown and cheese is melted

6. Enjoy!

One favorite in my apartment is burgers! Mozzarella Cilantro burgers! They were a favorite when we lived in a house too, when we had a real grill. Oh I do love a good grilled burger on a toasted bun.  The mozzarella cilantro burgers are delicious and usually we have the ingredients sitting in the fridge so it’s nice if we have a craving for a good burger we can make one that day.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lbs. ground beef, I use 80%/20% because it forms patties better than leaner ground beef. I usually cook them on my George Forman and that cooks a lot of the fat out them.
  • 1 bag/2 cups of shredded mozzarella
  •  a couple handfuls of chopped cilantro
  • some ketchup
  • 1 egg

5. Grill them up, on a grill, on a George Foreman, in a skillet, or my new fave, in the broiler! For medium burgers on the broiler, use room temperature patties, colder ones take more time, broil for 7 minutes, flipping the patties at the 3 minute mark.

6. Enjoy the goodness of a mozzarella cilantro burger!
